Artist presentation

 

My current artistic practice employs an interdisciplinary approach. However, the main focus is on the specifics of sculpture. Physicality and materiality, as prime characteristics of sculpture, provide allowance for opening spaces in which encounters with somewhat alien presences/entities take place and precedents for certain situations are proposed and carried out not only (or not so much) through imagery, but also (rather) through corporeality of things.

My work relies not only on production of “authentic” sculptural forms, but also on the appropriation/consumption of found materials/objects or things lent by or borrowed from friends and acquaintances. This way, the sculptures or clusters of sculptures (installations) are tangled into a more human dimension of familiar intrapersonal networks and become more or less active citizens of that dimension.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mano dabartinė meninė praktika pasižymi tarpdiscipliniškumu, tačiau pagrindinį dėmesį skiriu skulprūtai. Materialumas ir fiziškumas, kurie yra pirmučiausi skulptūros bruožai, geba atverti erdves kuriose sutirštinamos akistatos ar pažintys su daugmaž nepažiniais tvariniais. Daiktų tikrumas leidžia ne tik apibrėžti planą įsivaizduojamoms situacijoms ar kontaktams, bet ir iškelti realius tokių situacijų ar kontaktų precedentus.

Mano darbai remiasi ne tik „autentiškų“ skulptūrinių formų produkcija, bet ir rastų medžiagų ar objektų, o taip pat ir draugų ir pažįstamųjų paskolintų ar iš jų pasiskolintų daiktų apropriacija/varojimu. Tokiu būdu skulptūros ar jų spiečiai (instaliacijos) yra įpainiojamos į mums pažįstamų ir žinomų žmogiškų santykių dimensiją ir vienaip ar kitaip tampa aktyviais tos dimensijos piliečiais.
